02 Nov 2009
Chilean artist Rodrigo Alonso takes plastic waste obtained from electronic devices, toys, drink trays and stadium seats and turns it into stunning items of furniture. The line was specially designed for Fahneu, an urban equipment company in Santiago de Chile.

This furniture line uses a ‘rotomoulded’ technique to transform the recycled plastic into unique objects that are both beautiful and durable. An important factor to determine the technical feasibility, speed and efficiency of use of the financial and material resources is the production process. For this, the moulds were designed to use less energy and materials, thus reducing costs, coupled with ease of construction. This product is completely sustainable, even when reaching the end of the lifetime of the object, it can be re-crushed and re-rotomoulded to form a new object.
