Éminence has always been concerned about the environment, and since its inception in 1958, the company has been using sustainable farming and green practices to create organic products; long before the green movement was hot. It is also committed to being the industry leader in keeping our planet green.

Hungarian Roots

The Éminence tradition began in Hungary approximately 50 years ago in the small village of Nagykokenyes, where family knowledge of using herbs, fruits and plants in natural remedies spanned generations. Organic living seems to still be a way of life in Hungary, with villagers carting their home-grown fruits and vegetables to the markets before dawn to sell as they have done for centuries.

Éminence natural skin care products embody half a century of traditional herbal craftmanship and unsurpassed skin rejuvenation techniques unique to Hungary. Today the precious ingredients still are hand-picked and hand-mixed in small batches and are combined with thermal hot spring water to create products that are claimed to contain potent healing and beautifying properties.

Hungarian skin care has evolved from serving the European royalty of centuries past to servicing the top spas and retreats in North America today.

Organic Product Line

Eminence Organic Skin Care is a complete line of European beauty essentials, which contain the highest possible levels of all-natural organically grown herbs, fruits and vegetables, hand-selected to guarantee their highest quality. It has secured several new organic farms in Hungary and has made agreements to ensure exclusivity and the supply of raw ingredients all while maintaining its position as a leader in quality organic skincare. The company is committed to providing the best quality skincare while being environmentally responsible.

The philosophy is simple and natural, and it fits with the current demand for natural skin care solutions. The products are not mass produced and do not contain artificial colouring or fragrances. Their ingredients are hand picked and hand harvested to ensure premium quality. Every ounce of Éminence products receives personal attention to produce and package. After harvest, the ingredients are stored in temperature-controlled conditions for four months, during which time all traces of bacteria die off. They are next blended with water from a rare and completely unique source: Lake Hajduszoboszlo.

Their active ingredients are certified in Europe and adhere to the strictest standards of quality control. The Éminence skin care line has also undergone independent dermatological testing in Japan, where it now has a large and loyal following.

Green Production

Éminence is constantly looking for ways to reduce its carbon footprint, from the harvest and production of products to how they packaged and, finally how they reach spa clients.

Éminence carries an extensive line of more than 100 products, the philosophy is simple and natural, and it fits with the modern need of finding a natural skin care solution.

The ingredient farm in Hungary is powered by solar and wind energy, and geothermal heating is used in the laboratory. Only natural compost is used during planting, and crops are harvested only from controlled areas to avoid damaging any native or endangered flowers and herbs. Both planting and harvesting are done by manual labour, which produces little to no carbon dioxide in comparison to traditional mechanical means, and only natural plant preservation techniques, such as honey traps, are used instead of harsh toxic chemical pesticides.

Once harvested, Éminence products are packaged in boxes made from post-consumer recycled material and plastic containers made of recycled, non-toxic plastic, both of which can be recycled at any local recycling depot. The wooden boxes are also made from postconsumer recycled material, retail stands are crafted from a renewable resource. The company is currently developing containers from polylactic acid (PLA), a polymer made out of corn as a completely biodegradable packaging option. Even packing chips are made of corn and dissolve harmless under running hot water.

Éminence does its part to keep the community environmentally healthy by offsetting electricity usage with wind power credits and printing letterhead on FSC-certified post-consumer recycled paper using vegetable-based inks. Approximately two tons of paper is recycled each year, which is equivalent to providing heat and hot water to two homes for one year, or saving 30 trees, five barrels of oil, 63 gallons of water, or 50 kilograms of air pollutant per year. It also participates in many community and international initiatives, such as donating to local park rejuvenation projects, planting trees, and funding wind power energy creation.
